Subject Verb Complement and Modifier

SUBJECT

Definition Subject
Subject   is about what or who is spoken in a sentence or clause. complete subject is basically constructed by one or more noun or pronoun with / without additional modifier (s)   which can be either article (the, an, an),   adjective , and prepositional phrases .  

Example sentence subject:
1.      Mr. Mamat was a great Headmaster.
(Mr. Mamat is a great school head.)
Headmaster = subject
2.      The very big boarding s chool in this country was built in 1980.
(Very large boarding school in the country was built in 1980.)
school = subject

VERB

Definition Verb
Verb (verb) is a word which serves to indicate the action of thesubject , showing events or circumstances. Verb is one of the eightparts of speech . English verbs are not always a simple (one word), but may be the result of a combination of phrases with a particle intophrasal verb (get in, make up, read over).

Example sentences verb:
1.      Transitive and Intransitive : Transitive followed direct object
(example sentence: The boy kicked the ball), while the intransitive not
(example sentence: Cherly Often sneezes while cleaning)
2.      Linking Verb : linking the subject of a sentence with description
(example sentence: She is young and beautiful).
3.      Causative : verb to indicate that the subject is not directly responsible for the action that occurred.
(example sentence: I've had my house renovated last week).



COMPLEMENT
-          Usually a noun (noun) or noun phrase (noun phrase)
-          Usually found after the verb in the active voice
-          Ballsbridge answer the question what (what) or anyone (Whom)

example sentence complement:
-          Sarijon bought a cake yesterday
          What did Sarijon buy yesterday? -> A cake.
-          He saw Tony at the movie
          Whom did he see at the movie? -> Tony
-          I explain to my students pharmacology
         What do I explain to my students? -> Pharmacology
MODIFIER

Definition Modifier

Modifier is a word, phrase or clause in the English language that has afunction as an adjective (adjective) or adverb (adverb) which explainsanother word or group of words. Modifier appearing before the Head called the Premodifiers, while the modifier to appear after Head called the Postmodifiers.

Example sentence modifier:

1.      As an adjective
-          She found a chocolate put on my bag
'Put on my bag' (participial phrase) to function as an adjective that describes 'chocholate' (noun)
-          The magazine that Rena has read is very interesting
'that Rena has read' (adjective clause) serves to explain 'the book' (noun)
2.      As an adverb
-          He plays the violin so beautifully
'So beautifully' (adverb phrase) serves to explain 'plays violin' (verb)
-          When you went to the school, she Came
'When you went to the school' (adverb clause) answered the question "When did she come? '
